Kanye West held his first “campaign rally” in North Charleston, South Carolina on Sunday since announcing on Twitter on July 4 that he was entering the 2020 presidential race. The biggest controversy of the rally centered around Harriet Tubman, who, according to West, never actually freed the slaves, but had them work for other white people.
At one point,in an emotional rant, Kanye revealed that he and his wife, Kim Kardashian West, had considered an abortion when she was pregnant with their first child North West and went ahead to propose a million dollar in financial incentives to every new parent.
“I almost killed my daughter … So even if my wife were to divorce me after this speech, she brought North into the world, even when I didn’t want to,she stood up, and she protected that child.” he said.
Kanye also aggressively responded to a vocal critic,Iesha, after she asked him a question on gun reform.

Some have speculated that West’s candidacy could be just another publicity stunt to promote his new album. In a since deleted tweet, West announced his new album, DONDA, is to be released on July 24.
