Now known as COVID-19,this virus first broke out in Wuhan china.

The first community spread case in the US was reported in Solano County,northeast of San Francisco on Feb 26. Oregon also reported the states first case of coronovirus in a person with no travel history or exposure to another person with the virus.

On Feb 28,a second case of coronovirus with an unknown origin was reported in Northern California,Santa Clara County. This cases suggest the virus may be spreading in the US.

The first U.S. death linked to COVID-19 was reported in King County, Washington, just outside of Seattle. In the same city, officials reported two “presumptive” cases at another long-term care facility. Scientists say the virus could’ve been spreading for up to six weeks there, and if so, that would mean it could have infected between 150 and 1,500 individuals.

The first clinical trial in the U.S. to evaluate a treatment for COVID-19 has begun, according to the NIH. The trial will test an antiviral drug called remdesivir in hospitalized adults with COVID-19,the first study participant being an American who caught the disease while on board the Diamond Princess cruise ship.

According to authorities,the number of people infected in Italy with the new coronavirus rose 40 percent to 1,576 in just 24 hours.Five more infected people have also died bringing the total number of deaths to 34.

Delta Airlines announced Sunday it has suspended flights between New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport and Milan Malpensa Airport until May 1. American Airlines on the other hand had  previously announced its suspension between JFK and Milan until April 25.Both Airlines are currently offering travel waivers to Italy.

There have been 12 new cases of coronovirus in the UK bringing the total to 35.One of the patients,a man from Surrey, England, had not traveled abroad recently, making this U.Ks  first local transmission of COVID-19.

 The first confirmed case of coronavirus in sub-Saharan Africa emerged in Nigeria on Feb 28. The patient is said to be an Italian man in his 30s who works for a Nigerian concrete company. Investigators are still tracking down the other passengers who arrived on his Turkish Airlines flight from Milan.


As of now, 26 African nations have reported suspected coronavirus cases, according to the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Egypt and Algeria have also confirmed cases. Qatar has imposed temporary entrance restrictions for all travelers coming from Egypt through intermediate points as a way of trying to contain the virus.

Cases of coronavirus in South Korea are now at a whooping 3736,with 18 deaths linked to the virus.

The number of confirmed deaths in Iran is 54 as of Sunday and the number of infected people 978. Armenia has also closed its borders with neighboring Iran and suspended flights to the country after a 29 year old citizen tested positive for coronovirus on Friday 28 after returning from Iran. Those who had been in contact with him are to be isolated.

Iraq has reported 6 new cases bringing the total number of cases to 19.All of the infected,two from Baghdad and the other four Sulaimaniya,are said to have traveled from Iran.

Health authorities in the Dominican Republic have confirmed its first case of coronovirus. The tourist visiting from Italy was transferred to an isolation room near the capital and is said to be in stable condition.

Mainland China reported 573 new confirmed coronavirus cases on February 29, up from 427 the previous day. The death toll stands at 2870.

World wide,8,442 confirmed coronavirus cases have been confirmed and nearly 3000 deaths.42728 infected people have recovered.
