The “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise is sailing in a whole new direction, and Australian actress Margot Robbie,the star of Suicide Squad has been casted in the first-ever female-fronted Pirates of the Caribbean film.
There are currently no available plot details but the story is being written by Britain’s “Birds of Prey” screenwriter Christina Hodson and produced by longtime “Pirates” filmmaker Jerry Bruckheimer, according to the source.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the project is in early development and will be separate from the previously-announced reboot by Pirates writer Ted Elliott and creator Craig Mazin. However, both films will be produced by Jerry Bruckheimer.
Pirates of the Caribbean is the 14th highest-grossing film series ever, grossing over $4.5 billion worldwide.
